SIPTAPI is a driver that will allow you to use the Windows TAPI (Telephony Application Program Interface) service with your Verve hosted phone system, enableing you to use click-to-call or other call initiation with a TAPI compliant program that runs on Microsoft Windows.
SIPTAPI is a third-party open source software that IS NOT created by Verve, and is available for download at https://sourceforge.net/projects/siptapi/files/latest/download
Install SIPTAPI
- In the ZIP file find the driver “siptapi.tsp” in the folder deploy\Win32\Release
- Copy siptapi.tsp into your Windows system32 directory, usually found at C:Windows\system32
- This step requires administrator permission.
- Navigate to the Phone and Modem in the control panel or by typing it into the Start Menu search box.
- You must do this as an administrator.
- You may be prompted to enter your dialing rules, do so by entering your local area code (e.g. 858).
- Under the Advanced tab click the Add button and select SIPTAPI.
- Select SIPTAPI in the Providers: window and click the Configure button.
Configure SIPTAPI
- On the SIPTAPI Configuration page fill in the following information:
- SIP Domain: [your domain].mynlv.com
- SIP Outbound Proxy: nms.mynlv.com
- User: Your extension number
- Password: [Your device password] This is your device password NOT your portal password
- Optional: checck the “Auto Answer: Polycom, SNOM-old” box if you would like the phone to automatically answer and connect when using TAPI
- Click Ok and Close
Testing SIPTAPI
- To test if this was successful, search for dialer.exe from the start menu and open it
- Enter the number you wish to dial in the box and click dial.
- Your desk phone should ring and transfer you to the number you dialed.
- If it is not successful, check that the dialer is using the correct driver for calling by clicking Tools > Connect Using… and selecting SIPTAPI in the “Line:” dropdown
- If this does not work, make sure you have the correct password and server information. Go back to the Configuration section and reconfigure the SIP server and device information.
Configure your application
You now have the SIPTAPI driver installed. You may need to configure settings within the Windows application you are using to make calls, such as assigning the SIPTAPI driver as the default dialing application. Refer to the documentation or support for the particular application for more details.
Making a Call from Outlook Contacts
- Restart your Outlook.
- Choose one of your Outlook contacts, view the details. On the CONTACT tab, click “More”, and select “Call”.
- In the “New Call” pop-up click on dialog button “Dialing Options…”.
- Select “SIPTAPI v0.2.17 Release” or similar from the “Connect using line” dropdown.
- Click “OK”.
- Click “Start Call” to call the selected contact.
